A horror film is a film that is made to be unsettling as it has a purpose to scare to audience. Some examples of horror films are The Shining, Psycho and The Descent. In film, Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning. they can be divided into two categories, technical and symbolic. Technical codes are all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text, for example the camera work in a film. Conventions are used to represent certain topics, characters and events. When you start to scrutinise these conventions, you'll find that often, they are used to shape how we think about a character or event.
